Pam Beesly (The Office)

Louis is Director of Finance at Pear. Previously, he worked across finance, tax, and fund accounting at Emergence, Ohana Real Estate Investors, and Foundation Capital.

At Pear, Louis helps manage financial functions of the firm and our four funds, spanning across portfolio monitoring and valuations, LP reporting, and the annual tax and audit process.

He was attracted to finance and accounting by his life-long card playing hobby and has always loved working with numbers and rules. In fact, during high school and college, he was a professional-caliber Magic: the Gathering player.

Louis resides in the Bay Area with his wife, two young children, and two cats. He’s a Silicon Valley native: he grew up down the road in Cupertino. He graduated from SF State with a BA in Liberal Studies and graduated with a Masters in Professional Accounting, concentrated in Tax and Financial Reporting, from the UT Austin McCombs School of Business.

What is your most used emoji?

I had to ask my wife on this one! She let me know it’s 🎉.

What’s your favorite book?

The City We Became by N.K. Jemisin, but most anything by her is great.

What career path did you want to pursue when you were a kid?

As a young kid I wanted to be a paleontologist until Jurassic Park scared me out of it. Then in high school I wanted to either be a video game developer or to work in small business finance.

What are your favorite sports teams?

The Bay Area big 4: 49ers, Sharks, Warriors, Giants.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

I play a lot of fantasy football, and some video games (currently Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom). These days my number one hobby is keeping up with my son as he rampages through our house.
