Vivien is a Principal at Pear. Previously, she worked on executive business strategy, new products and product growth for Airbnb Homes and Transportation, and was a consultant at BCG, focused on defining innovation and growth strategies for healthcare, consumer, and technology companies.

At Pear, Vivien focuses on leading healthcare investing. She founded the Pear Female Founders Circle, supporting the next generation of female technical founders. She also hosts the Pear Healthcare Playbook Podcast, featuring successful founders on discussing how they built a digital health business from 0 to 1 and beyond. She is passionate about backing and supporting mission-driven founders who hope to improve the world we live in with technology, whether in human health or the new ownership economy.

Vivien is originally from Taiwan, and grew up in Shanghai. She moved to San Francisco to be closer to family and the entrepreneurial energy of Silicon Valley. She earned an MBA in Healthcare Management and Entrepreneurship at The Wharton School and Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences at Northwestern University.

What career path did you want to pursue when you were a kid?

I wanted to be a science writer. I was always fascinated by the periodic table and how each element was discovered and applied to human innovation.

What are your favorite sports teams?

Growing up all over, I don’t have one favorite team. I do love watching the Olympics and any Olympic U.S. and Taiwan teams.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Outside of work, I love skiing on fresh powder, road cycling through California's hills, cooking Taiwanese noodles, and adding to the 50+ countries I’ve visited.
